All Nitrox Certified divers can enjoy using nitrox tanks for free while diving with us
If you are not yet certified to use nitrox tanks, then you can find out more about the Nitrox Diver Specialty below.
The Nitrox diver course is a great specialty to learn since diving with Nitrox will always bring you benefits, for example you will be able to either…
Nitrox tanks allow us to reduce our exposure to Nitrogen because they contain less nitrogen than standard air tanks which are normally used for scuba diving. You probably remember that nitrogen accumulating in our bodies is the main reason we are restricted in how long we can dive based on either the dive plan tables or our dive computers. By reducing our exposure to nitrogen we are able to extend our no-stop diving limits and reduce the amount of time required on the surface between consecutive dives. These benefits are most noticeable between 18m/60ft and 30m/100ft because it is in these depth ranges that divers can often be limited by their maximum No-Decompression Limit (NDL) rather than their gas consumption (especially on repetitive dives).
Even outside of the depth range mentioned above or when you are diving an “air profile” alongside other divers who are using air, Nitrox still brings benefits since you personally will be exposed to less Nitrogen and therefore will be further from your NDL. For example as a group we might take the air divers to within 5 minutes of their NDL before we start to make a slow ascent, however if you are diving on Nitrox you will probably be approximately 15-20 minutes away from your NDL and there you can consider yourself as diving more conservatively even though you have enjoyed exactly the same dive as the air divers. Where possible, we send groups of Nitrox divers with one guide and air divers with a separate guide to allow the Nitrox divers to enjoy the maximum amount of dive time for a particular dive.
The process to get certified as a Nitrox Diver diver is quite simple. The course is mainly on online eLearning theoretical course with a short practical demonstration of how to use an Oxygen analyzer and dive computer for diving safely with Nitrox. After the course you can enjoy using Nitrox tanks on all of your dives with us. This course is a dive specialty which counts towards your SDI or PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
